THE MCALPIN FIREWOOD CUTTING HOLDER

The safest and most efficient way to cut firewood. The Firewood cutting holder is designed to hold branches of wood from sticks of 5 cm diameter to logs of 30cm, up to 6m long. The holder can be operated in the field where the wood is collected or at the wood pile. It's light weight makes it easy to transport on a truck, Ute or trailer.

For easy loading of the heavier logs, the front two bars lift out reducing lifting height.

With the bars replaced smaller branches can be loaded to the top.

After fitting the hold-down bars across the wood, you are ready to start cutting.

Blocks of any required length are cut many at a time with a chainsaw by starting at either end and working back towards the stand. With both sides reduced to blocks, the last cut is down between the support bars. The hold-down bars are removed and the wood is allowed to fall down, or the last two stacks can be removed before it falls to the ground. The holder is ready to be loaded again.

SAFETY

Sawing small pieces of wood on the ground with a chainsaw can be dangerous. Wood can fly up and hit you if the chain grabs. They can jam the chain, sometimes de-rail the chain altogether. To compensate, we are tempted to put a foot on the wood close to where we are sawing or even ask someone else to hold the wood. Unless the small pieces are held securely, it is not safe to cut them with a chainsaw.

Continually bending over cutting wood close to the ground can cause back ache, if not injury, not to mention the risk of damage to the cutting teeth if the chain touches the ground. The firewood cutting holder overcomes all of these risks if used with some common sense.

SPEED AND EFFICIENCY

When sawing with the holder, many blocks are cut at once, which is much faster and more efficient than one at a time.

Wood cut in the wood holder usually does not require splitting, which saves time. Without this tool, smaller wood is often left behind because of the difficulty and danger to cut with a chainsaw. The Firewood Cutting Holder makes it possible to utilize almost all available wood.

For convenience of packaging it is supplied in un-assembled form, for welding or bolting together at home.
